This Match Is a Work of Art

Big Brother Victor and Little Brother Nahzeer recently celebrated their one year match anniversary! Early on, the two bonded over their shared love of art, with Victor helping Nahzeer add to his portfolio and supporting him through trying out new mediums, all while making sure to consistently stay in contact with him virtually.

A favorite outing from last summer was when the match partnered to help paint a mural in downtown Chicago, and were able to engage with other matches while respecting social distancing guidelines. Victor tells us he wants to be the mentor he never had when he was growing up as a young, gay, Black man, and Nahzeer tells us that he trusts his Big Brother completely and feels great heading into their second year together.

Victor uses The Learning Exchange to help train himself on how to talk through tough issues and learn about how to form an even stronger relationship with Nahzeer during a pandemic and a summer of unrest. As the two head into their second year together, they’re excited to meet in-person again and explore Chicago – especially the city’s incredible art and architecture. Victor and Nahzeer will continue to develop their creativity, friendship and community activism through their mutual love of art. As we know, a work of art is never complete until it’s shared!
