Special Initiatives
Below are descriptions of a few of the different initiatives that would benefit greatly from your generous investment.
THE MATCH ENRICHMENT FUND (MEF)
MEF was created to augment existing mentoring relationships (matches) through arts & culture, educational achievement, health & nutrition, college & career preparation and aptitude enhancement.
The goal is to provide financial assistance to Big Brothers Big Sisters matches to enhance their mentoring relationship through enrichment opportunities outside of the realm of typical outings. Matches can apply for financial support or scholarships to fund a variety of services, activities, or items. We’d love to hear your ideas, too! Here are just some examples:
· $100 for two Broadway in Chicago tickets to see a performance together
· $275 for two Fitbits/wearable pedometers
· $500 to attend college visits together
SPONSOR A MATCH FOR 1 YEAR
It costs roughly $2,000 to match an at-risk child with an adult mentor and provide the highest quality mentoring service for one year. When you give, you are making an investment in our professionally supported, planned process of volunteer assessment, orientation, training, matching, ongoing match support and program evaluation. This process not only ensures that each match is safe and well suited to each child’s needs, but is also harmonious and built to last.
Each month, there are several Littles on our waiting list, ready to welcome a positive adult role model in their lives.
